My Path & Practice
My work with animals and their humans began in 2013 through a decade of training hearing and service dogs with Service Dogs Inc. in Austin, Texas. As a specialized trainer, I supported individuals with a wide range of disabilities, drawing from my lived experience as a deaf person and my commitment to accessibility, advocacy, and ethical human–animal partnership.
Through this work, I developed a deep understanding of canine behavior that extends beyond traditional training into energetic and somatic awareness. This integrative approach continues to shape how I support dogs and their guardians today.
Guided by a long-standing interest in disaster response and search and rescue with dogs, I earned a Master’s degree in Homeland Security with an emphasis in Emergency Management. I now work at the intersection of animal preparedness, emergency planning, and education, supporting professionals and communities in creating pet-inclusive, resilient systems.
I am also a certified Forest Therapy Guide through the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT) and am developing specialized animal grief doula services. Through nature-based practices and sacred transition work, I support people and animals navigating stress, trauma, end-of-life care, and loss.
My mission is to help humans deepen their relationships with their animal companions. I believe animals connect with us at the heart, and that when we learn to listen with presence and respect, meaningful healing and connection unfold.
